A fabulous, little Victorian style bee brooch fashioned in 18ct gold. Two colourful natural opal cabochons make up the body (approx. 0.22ct each) and are accompanied by an array of twinkling diamonds across the wings and abdomen (approx. 0.25ct total) and two pink ruby eyes at the head.
During the late 19th Century many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the vast urbanisation of Great Britain. This brought about an abundance of romanticised Insect and butterfly pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to highlight the beauty and value of nature.
It’s very pretty and would look beautiful pinned to a lapel.
