A beautiful antique Victorian celestial brooch depicting a crescent moon and star. It’s fashioned in 18ct gold and lined with glowing, natural seed pearls, simulating moonlight and a twinkling old mine cut diamond in the centre to give the star its sparkle.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
It’s remained in excellent condition and will look perfect pinned to a lapel.
