Antique Victorian Moonstone Sapphire Crescent Moon Brooch

Title Default Title
Qty:

A fabulous antique Victorian moonstone sapphire crescent moon brooch, alternated with fourteen blue sapphires and nine cabochon moonstones, with a tenth set on a curled motif sprouting out of the centre. They have a bright, silvery glow that mimics the light of the moon and are complemented beautifully by the deep blue sapphires.

Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th and 20th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.

The piece is fashioned in 15ct gold with a pin at the back and pierced workmanship around the sides. It dates to the late 19th Century and displays gorgeous collection of twilight gems.
